Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese healing art. The practitioner uses pressure, rocking and stretching to rebalance the client’s energy and help the healing process.
What is Shiatsu used for?
Shiatsu can be helpful in a range of conditions including back pain, headaches and migraines, whiplash injuries and neck stiffness, joint pain and reduced mobility, menstrual problems, digestive problems, asthmatic symptoms, fatigue, anxiety and depression. What to expect from a session
Each session lasts one hour. The initial consultation may take up to 1½ hours. This is so we can record your case details and build up a full picture of your health according to oriental medicine. The treatment usually takes place on a futon on the floor, with the client fully clothed, so it is a good idea to wear comfortable, loose clothing. We can also work with you seated if lying down is difficult. After a treatment, it is good to allow yourself time to relax and have a drink before you leave.
We currently have two Shiatsu practitioners at Bodywise in Manchester, Shuddhabha and Arthaketu. We work Monday to Thursday and Saturdays. We both work in general practice but Shuddhabha also specializes in maternity care and teaches for the Shiatsu College Manchester. To find out more about learning Shiatsu, follow the link.
