I offer Transactional Analysis (TA) Counselling and Psychotherapy in a non judgemental, safe and confidential environment, where you can make the changes you want to make. Life can sometimes be stressful, challenging and unfulfilling and this can deeply affect our emotional and physical well being. Sometimes we can feel sad, angry or scared which is normal, but when these feelings, thoughts and behaviours get in the way of life and relationships, it can be helpful to seek support and talk about what that is like for you.
Through a therapeutic relationship you can explore your problems, develop self-awareness and improve your communication skills, then discover that change is possible, freeing up energy to make decisions about how you live your life now.
I have experience in working with both men and women and young adults over 16.
I can help you to understand and make changes with symptoms of:
- Anxiety, panic attacks, compulsive obsessional thoughts.
- Trauma, and post traumatic stress disorder.
- Bereavement, loss, recovering from a failed relationship.
- Depression, low mood, lack of self esteem and self confidence.
- Self harm, eating disorders and suicidal feelings.
- Recovering from sexual abuse.
Psychotherapy can mean returning to the root of a problem that is formed in childhood, within a supportive, challenging and caring, therapeutic relationship. A clue to this is when we continue to encounter the same problems in relationships and experience the same familiar negative feelings over and over again. Old issues can get in the way without us knowing, and so by making links to our childhood experiences with what’s going on in the present, we can make peace with the past, accepting and embracing who we are.
I live and have a private practice in South Manchester. I also work at The Roby, a registered charity providing free counselling where I run a womens’ therapy group. Other previous experience includes counselling sixth form students and volunteer work at Stockport Womens Centre. I undertake regular clinical supervision and am a member of the ITA and BACP. I adhere to their codes of ethics for practice.
I offer a free initial consultation of 20 minutes, and then subsequent sessions will be for 50 mins, at a charge of £48 (£50 from January 2020).
