Jane Craggs

Jane Craggs has been practising and studying yoga for 25 years and teaching since 2000. She originally trained as a yoga teacher whilst living in Spain and on her return to the UK set up Yogaspace and subsequently Manchester Yoga Shala, a collective of teachers committed to bringing authentic yoga to those who may not ordinarily have access to it. Her life is firmly rooted in the classical 8 limbed path of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras which present yoga as a way of life, honouring the cultivation of health, harmony and eventually the distant goal of transcendence!

She has been very fortunate to have studied with many inspirational teachers in the West, including Donna Farhi with whom she completed advanced teacher training in 2005, and she regularly visits India to reconnect to the source of the classical teachings. Since 2009 she has been a personal student of AG Mohan and his wife Indra in India, after many years of being strongly influenced by their work. She is now part of the Svastha Yoga international community, helping to share this wonderfully authentic and individualised practice. She has not only studied with them in depth Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, the source of the practice of yoga, but has also completed Yoga Therapy training with their brilliant son Dr Ganesh Mohan and is a registered Yoga Therapist with the IAYT. Over the last two years Jane has also studied with their amazing daughter Nitya Mohan, who is an inspiring classical musician and focuses on the use of sound as a healing tool.

Jane has also completed Ayurvedic studies both with the Ayurvedic Institute of Albuquerque and in Ayurvedic hospitals in Kerala whilst on her study sabbatical. Ayurveda supports the journey towards health and peace and along with yoga is a powerful system of returning body and mind to a balanced state. Jane’s teaching of yoga and Ayurveda is rooted in the compassionate wisdom of the sutras and she passes on the teachings in a gentle, supportive way allowing each individual space to experience the practices in their own time. She welcomes everyone to her classes, especially those with pre-existing medical conditions, physical or mental.

Yoga Therapy One to One

Jane is a fully qualified Yoga Therapist and is registered with the international Association of Yoga Therapists.
She offers one to one sessions to help you design a practice that is appropriate for you depending on your current physical and mental status.
The sessions are designed to help you to develop a yoga routine that fits into your daily life. The first session will be 90 minutes to allow us to learn about your current physical and mental situation, goals you may have, looking at lifestyle diet and personal requirements.
From this consultation, Jane will work with you to create a very simple program that is achievable with some Activities for Daily Living to help you integrate the practice. From instructions, you will feel confident to carry out this practice at home.

After that you will probably want to book in again in a week or so just to check that the program is appropriate and to tweak it if necessary, then a third session will help to fine tune the breath and postures. It’s then up to you how often you want to attend.

Cost £65 for first 90 minute consultation
£50-£55 per hour thereafter depending on number of sessions booked
Please contact Jane to arrange an appointment. Please note our cancellation policy.
